Fun in the fountains at Coolidge Park

We went to Chattanooga today to play in the fountains at Coolidge park. The boys had a blast. Shawn loved it since it has been awhile since we were there last. Jake was unsure of it to begin with and only stayed on the outer parts of the fountain. UNlike Shawn who spent most of his time in the middle, Jake never ventured that far but still managed to have a blast. We had a great lunch and then played more. From there we got dry clothes on and then rode the carousel twice. Best part of all, Mommy didnt get lost on the way home.

To cap of the day,we stopped at Dairy Queen for hot fudge sundaes(dipped cone for Jake).

my baby turned 3 on Sunday

Its so surreal.I cant believe that he is already 3. I know its a cliche but it really does seem like I just brought him home from the hospital. He is so big and so smart. Its scary sometimes how advanced he has gotten with vocabulary and his ability to reason!

homeschooling adventures

We have made a decision to homeschool S who is 9. He is having many problems in school and is failing for lack of maturity and worrying too much about other people. Now the adventure begins, me having the patience to homeschool with an opionated mouthy preteen.

Life lessons learned

Life Lessons you can learn from your children: Play more. Be curious. Get
all wrapped up in what you're doing. Even the littlest things can bring
you pleasure.

I need to do this more often, to slow down and relax. I need to spend at least 10 minutes a day laughing at nothing at all and dancing around my kitchen for no reason at all!

the spirit of christmas

To often I think that we get caught up in the act of Christmas, the gift giving, the parties, the monetary value of things. I get so stressed this time of year to make sure that I buy something for everyone and make sure my kids have a better Christmas than the year before. Today it all hit me as I wrapped my millionth gift, why? When has this wonderful season became a time of "me, me and more, more"? There is hardly a commercial on tv that my 7 yr old doesnt say" I want that for Christmas" or "I hope Santa brings me this". So tomorrow, we will sit back, enjoy the lights of our local town and remember that the season that is upon us is time for family and love, not for gifts and toys.
